New, expanded location coming this Fall

FRANKENMUTH, Mich. – May 1, 2018 – Throughout 2018, Frankenmuth Cheese Haus is celebrating its 50^th year in business. Coinciding with the actual date, they’re hosting a big 50^th Anniversary Open House event Wednesday, May 23, from 9:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. at the store, located at 561 South Main St., Frankenmuth.

Visitors that day will receive free cheese spread and enjoy cheese and meat samples along with specialty samples from the “Cheese Trap” food truck. Prizes will be awarded with prize wheel spins and drawings every 50 minutes for a chance to win additional prizes. Take a selfie or family photo with the 150-pound mammoth cheese wheel and the store’s iconic mouse mascot while shopping the many cheese specials throughout the store. In addition, the bar area will be crafting a “cheesy cocktail” to celebrate the store’s golden gala.

The Cheese Haus is a top tourist destination for generations of travelers. To accommodate more visitors and offer even more fun and excitement to the shopping experience, the Cheese Haus is expanding from its current 2,700 square feet to a new 16,000 square-foot Bavarian-themed building at 545 S. Main St., just steps from the current location. Work is already underway, with a planned opening set for this Fall.

The new, expanded location will offer more room for product sales and demonstrations. The second-floor hospitality area, able to accommodate groups and motor coach travelers, will be the perfect setting for beer, wine and cheese tastings. The new Cheese Haus will also have a 60-foot onion tower with figurine movements called a Figurinespiel, an animated story about popular cheeses from around the world, and a sundial. Not to worry, the famous Cheese Haus mouse will be part of the new building.

The Frankenmuth Cheese Haus specializes in the production and sale of imported and domestic cheese. Cheese Haus artisans make homemade cheese spreads including garlic, horseradish, bacon, jalapeno, smokey jalapeno, fiery jalapeno, and a creamy blue cheddar spread. In-store, the staff creates delicious specialty flavored cheeses including chocolate, chocolate mint, chocolate peanut butter, strawberry, and blueberry cheese. These many cheese options are complemented by an abundant variety of crackers, meat, mustards/sauces, and gadgets galore.
